In compliance with FTC guidelines: I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Very entertaining, dark, witty, and well-paced novel following the exploits of Matt Richter, a private detective who happens to be the only self-willed zombie in Nekropolis. Alongside him are three other interesting characters: his love and partner, Devona, a half-human, half-vampire woman, Varney, a full-blood vampire, and Shamika, who is a new character in this series.

The world-building continues to be fascinating, with each novel in the series adding more depth to the environs and the DarkFolk living there.

I'm glad to say that despite a few small editing issues (and at least one minor continuity error), that this was a much more readable novel than the Kindle version was of the second novel, making it a bigger pleasure to read.
