really liked it
bookshelves: memoir, poc-reading-challebge, post-modern, mythic
Read from August 24 to September 07, 2011

I had been expecting a more traditional memoir but soon was captivated by Kingston's heady mix of Chinese folklore. legend and myth with the more conventional sections.

In many ways I feel I discovered more about pre-Revolutionary China and the experiences of first generation Chinese-American than I might from other works because this so successfully captured my imagination taking me inside a very different culture to my own.
