Wow, what a beautiful, sad, and inspiring book. Set during World War II in a town on the outskirts of Munich, Germany, we follow the heroine of the story, Liesel, also known only to a few as the book thief. She arrives at the door of her new foster family already riddled with emotional scars and learns through words, a fist fighting Jew, a friend, and an endearing Papa, to have hope in such a dark, hateful time.

The format of this book was so intereting as was the narration by death. It evoked so many emotions and images of what a horrible time in history that wasn't so long ago. Sad at times, yes, but a wonderful tale. I highly recommend this one, give it a try!
