This was another epic from Follett which follows the same sort of multiple character/storylines as PotE and WWE. I have never really been interested in WW1 and never quite understood how an assasination of an archduke could have led to a world war and the fall of the Russian monarchy so in that respect the history elements were both new and intriguing to me. Some of the british politics of the time (while important to the era/historical background) were a little dull but overall this was an interesting read. I am on a bit of a russian kick at the moment so enjoyed the descriptions of the revolution/rise of the Bolsheviks in particular. Love Follet's easy to read style and the "epic-ness" of his novels, looking forward to book 2 of this series.
