Wanderlust: A Love Affair with Five Continents
by Elisabeth Eaves
by Elisabeth Eaves
Does Eaves come across like a brat in this book sometimes? Yes, and it has been said in just about every review. However, something that has not been brought up (at least I don't think) is that fact that Eaves is a part of a new generation of women that have not really been discussed. She desires to see the world and observe and learn, without any real desire of settling down and raising a family, something that girls are "supposed" to want. She doesn't see the problem in taking lovers, and considers sex to be a seamless part of life. Did her tales of her various boyfriends sometimes cloud the exotic backdrop of the story? Yes. However, I was unable to put this book down. As a fellow young woman who only wants to travel and observe and record, I saw so much of myself in her. If you dislike this book because you think that she is just a "lost" soul, let me remind you that not all who wander are lost.
