This volume made me glad that I had seen the anime first. There were plot points in the 2nd volume that would have had to have been guessed at if I had not seen the anime. I love the New Year's Eve chapter, where we see that both Yuki and Kyo want to help, protect, and show their love towards Tohru. Although I'm amazed that jealousy has not entered into the already tense relationship between the two boys. In fact, instead, there relationship seems to be getting better due to Tohru's presence. I also enjoyed the introduction of Momiji and Hatori, whose story also reveals the cruelty of Akito's character. As in Volumer 1, Natsuki Takaya balances humor and deep emotion throughout.
