Jacob Jankowski is a ninety something man, who resides in a hospital, without remembering much about his past. The past is not something that he is willing to discuss, because it is painful but yet memorable to him. He remembers how he was working in a circus as a young man, back than he was unemployed, taking his finals at this prestigious school, and he was a virgin. After hearing drastic news from his colleagues, he boards a train, not realizing that it was not just an ordinary train. He boarded the "Flying Squadron of the Benzini Brothers, Most spectacular show." He meets a few friends, gets employed in a circus, while working with a talented elephant name Rosie. He also falls in love with a married woman, and soon his life turns hectic. His only escape is to run away from what he comes home, which is the most difficult thing of it all. This is an remarkable book about love, regret and survival, it is a very enlightening book.
