Loved that it was a true story. Personal connection almost made me give it a 4. The author and I are close to the same the details in the drawings and even some of the text included things from my own adolescence-New Kids on the Block, Little Mermaid, Guess, B.U.M., Nintendo, Hello Kitty, Y.M., Caboodles, scrunchies, Baby Sitters Club, Esprit, Ex'cla-ma'tion, and fashion trends-making it especially fun to read. And then of course their are timeless treasures being a teen-braces, headgears, the signing of yearbooks, mean girls, crushes, spin the bottle, fake friends, school dances, and more. It's a fun quick trip through one girl's story of coming of age...but anyone who has trekked the same journey can find a bit of themselves in this graphic memoir. Cute and fun. 3 1/2 stars. :)
