This is the last of this series for me because I started with the last book. As I filled in the bits and pieces of Jemma and Elijah's story, I was not sure what I was going to think of this book, but I was very anxious to read it.

Shortly after their arranged marriage Jemma finds her husband and his mistress on the desk of his office at Parliament. When Elijah, who she has fallen in love with, tells her that he loves his mistress she is devastated and runs off to Paris, where, after waiting several years for her husband to come and get her, she engages in her first affair.

That is the sort of backstory that would normally cause me to avoid a book, but of course, I have been led to this book by the others in the series. I enjoyed reading about the way Jemma and Elijah work through the issues of their relationship and about their courtship, their wooing as they enter this new phase of their marriage and find that their is more to intimacy than sex and more to their relationship than the need to produce an heir before Elijah's heart gives out.
