it was amazing

Ian McEwan is a brilliant author. This was the first book of his that I read. In it, he follows the Saturday of Henry Perowne, a London neurosurgeon, from before dawn until roughly 24 hours later. The day happens to be that on which people around the world are gathering to protest the war in Iraq. The book explores Perowne's own ambivalence toward the war paralleled with his being forced to act in his own life in order to protect his family. McEwan's writing is thoroughly researched and psychologically observant. Saturday makes me want to read more of his work.
