Felton is a squirrel nut....well, that's what all the honkie jocks call him anyway. He's a nobody, a geeky loser. That is, until a few months ago when he started growing - growing hair, an appetite, and growing big. And he's fast! Where did this growth spurt and speed come from? Definitely not from his father (the kind, small, poet type who Felton found hanging in the garage when he was five).
But his new speed, height, and strength haven't gone unnoticed. Now the high school coaches are recruiting him. And the jock honkies who use to give him a hard time are paying attention to him. Weird!
But with his best and only friend gone for the summer, his little brother and mom going crazy, this new speed might just save him or sink him.
I loved every single character in this book (the good and the bad). Cried, laughed, and cried some more. This is a story that every teen should read. Be careful how you Grady others, you have no idea what they're going through, and what they will become.
