This was a fun story - and I loved the surprize at the end. But DiTerlizzi's illustrations are several noches above his writing.

(I think his illustrations are completely amazing! So that still makes his writing good, but I miss Holly Black...his co-author on the Spiderwick Chronicles.)

Meg I have never read The Spiderwick Chronicles, would you recommend them?

Beth Absolutely! They are really 1 long story that's been divided into 5 to make it more appealing to reluctant readers. The illustrations are so cool but the writing really bring it to life. What some stories need paragraphs to say, these authors convey in just one sentence - nuance of character and discriptions of places! The books are so much than the movie - if you even remember the movie...

Kim Miner Litton I think DiTerlizzi is one of the great illustrators of our time. I adore his take on "The Spider and the Fly"

Beth I'll have to read that.
