it was amazing

I could barely put this book down even though I knew the outcome. The writing, the research, the drama made me appreciate General George Washinton and his rag-tag forces even more. Some things I had not realized, such as the contempt of the Britist redcoats toward the Americans, the loyalty and worth of American Generals Nathaniel Greene and Henry Knox, the many loyalists in New York and Boston working against the American cause, and the terrible, terrible conditions of the Washington's men in the middle of winter. As McCullough says, "The outcome seemed a little short of a miracle."
