Adhd: The Facts
by Mark Selikowitz
by Mark Selikowitz
Clear and sober, exactly how you want these kinds of books to be written. The section that was most interesting to me was on the causes of ADHD -- I didn't realise we had such a precise understanding of the problem, down to the specific genes that factor in and why -- and also on the medication (I feel a bit reassured about their general safety, now). I also enjoyed the general attitude of cautiousness, and the smacking down of homeopathic treatment ("it's good because it's natural", eyeroll) and various other forms of quackery.
