bookshelves: return-to-later

I appreciate that the book has a more post-apocalyptic feel than it does mainstream pnr. It's as if X-men mutants collided with some of the language stylings of Blood Red Road. For whatever reason, my mind has been so overwhelmed with real life things lately that I can't seem to focus anything with an ample amount of world building at the moment, which is too bad. I hope to get back to this book at some point because I think I will like it once my mind is in the right place to read it.

Jean What do you think so far? I'm a little apprehensive, so unless you give it your seal of approval, I probably won't read it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) I plan on starting it in a couple of hours. The summary scares me a little. You can tell the book might have the potential to go over-the-top in a bad way but I'm hoping that the "powers" concept will work out to be interesting instead of silly.

Jean Yea, same. I've read a lot of reviews where they're basically saying 'either you love it or hate it'. Usually you're pretty spot on about these things. The bumblebee concept seems kind of weird, though.

Lyndsey I'm not sure if this is one to read if you're feeling lazy. It actually takes work to read because of the bizarre writing style. I'm interested other what you think though!

Stacia (the 2010 club) I wish I'd seen your comment earlier! I get what you mean. I'm a couple chapters in and definitely a bit confused. Was this book one you started and didn't finish? As of right now, I'm going to chalk it up to world building and hope it starts coming together. At least there haven't been any cringe-worthy moments so far. The world could have some potential. We shall see...
