2.5 stars for the time machine - could be my love of stop-motion animation, or my childhood glee at this movie, but I distinctly like the old 60s version of the movie better than this talky book. there's way too much foreshadowing in the vein of "little did I know how soon this would turn out to be horrible!" and not enough sense of surprise or urgency. still, it is a wealth of ideas, and a solid example of just how intellectual science fiction can be.
