Reading this almost ten years after the beginning of Bush's War on Terror and invasion of Iraq, I feel a deeply harrowing nostalgia. Chomsky avoids the academic pitfalls of obfuscation, presenting contemplative and concise analyses of the crises. I can well imagine directing my kids and grandkids to this as an example of the frustration, cynicism, desperation, and activism, that made up the leftist zeitgeist of the early 21st century.
