Excellent pictures, good collection of documents spanning the sport, and it features Roger Angell (always worth a good two stars). Entertaining because it was published in 1994, which means that half the guys mentioned as "the next big thing"/"poised for greatness"... weren't.

Oddly, seems to favor Ted Williams over Joe Dimaggio in the part that covers their careers, but Dimaggio over Williams everywhere else. Also seems to favor the Yankees over the Red Sox (I swear it's not the Sox fan complex talking), though talking about Yaz and Fisk more than any Yankees player of the same period - but the writer's a Mets fan, according to his blurb. Crazy baseball fans.
