Faerie Wars (The Faerie Wars Chronicles, #1)

After hesitating whether to continue reading this book after having read the first few chapters, I am glad I did because it was pretty amazing.Despite the weird beginning where kittens are used as glue, there is a boy thinking of flying pigs and a mother who is having an affair with another woman, the remainder of the book was surprisingly good.
This book had a unique combination of traditional fantasy blended with the modern advances of science. Though I would like to make a comment on the faerie world especially when the author mentions there is a glue factory, a swimming pool and sunglasses coupled with the medieval infrastructures. It makes me actually wonder what era it is set in.
Despite that, it all gets exciting when Pyrgus Malvae is taken into real world and where he meets Henry and old Mr. Forgaty who helps him get back to his world so that he can defeat the faeries of the night.
Great description and at times gruesome especially when Beleth is describing to Pyrgus how he will die and when Henry reads the ritual of the Hand of Glory.
Overall great start to the series and look forward to reading on :)
