THE FAERYS VIEW

Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors and I’ve never read anything by her that I didn’t really like. When it comes to The Abandoned Series, though, I have to say it’s my favorite. Meg does a splendid job incorporating the Hades and Persephone myth into a present setting using different characters. This was a book I highly anticipated and when I got the ARC I was doing the happy dance practically until I opened the first page!

Underworld starts off where Abandoned left off; John Hayden [John for all intents & purposes] whisks Pierce back to the Underworld and she’s not exactly discontent when she wakes from a bad nightmare (teehee-you have to read that on your own)! Like every couple, they have ‘communication’ problems and eventually Pierce finds Johns crew, yep, crew and they are loyal and awesome. Many hijinx ensue during the book but one thing is certain, there is love between John and Pierce. I refuse to give any spoilers away because it would be so easy to do but to do so would ruin some of the best parts of the book. I’ll highlight one part that is an important element in the book: Pierce turns her phone on and see’s Alex in desperate trouble, she appeals to John to take her to back to the island to save him and he complies, the whole crew goes and Pierce’s best friend just happens to show up. Alex is found but what happens after that will be found in the book!

I adored the way Meg kept the suspense on high but had just the right moments of levity to break things up. The love between John or should I say Captain John and Pierce is as sweet and lovely as the gardenias he gives her but their arguments can be quite the opposite. There were the requisite twists and turns but Meg really pulled some punches and surprised me!

Character portrayals were awesome and spot on!!! Especially the crew! I could picture each and every one of them in my mind’s eye and I fell in love with them all, especially Frank . Meg is a master a portraying both Pierce and John’s feelings of guilt, longing, sheer joy and utter fear. I think everyone should give this series a try!

THE FAERY SAYS UNDERWORLD BY MEG CABOT ROCKED MY WINGS!!!
