Christopher Holmes has been asked by his friend, Anna, to lead a weekend seminar at her annual winter writing retreat, after what she says is an attempt on her life has left her badly injured. As a consequence Christopher has to cancel yet another weekend with his sort-of-boyfriend J.X. Moriarity. Exasperated, J.X. tells"Kit", as he calls Christopher, that the ball is in his court and that he's done chasing after him. When Kit arrives at the retreat Anna reveals that the true reason she called him is so that he can do some amateur sleuthing on her behalf. Soon wicked death is upon the writers at the retreat, and Kit's own life is in danger...

*yawn* ...that's my reaction to this book. It follows pretty much the same pattern as the previous book; J.X. and Kit are barely together and Kit is fighting his inferiority complex...same old same old. The story this time isn't in my taste, I find the mystery dull and uninspiring and the only thing that really keeps me reading is the relationship between J.X. and Christopher, even though I find it infuriating that Kit has pulled away from J.X. yet again...

Just meh!
