Read in July, 2011, read count: 3 times and n times more!
"He’s never enough
And still leaves more than I can take
Oh 'coz I don’t know
I don’t know what he’s after
But he’s so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful?
Or just a beautiful disaster"
-Kelly Clarkson, Beautiful Disaster
I didn't like the cover at first. It's kinda gross so I closed that window (I kinda judge a by it's cover). Glass, a friend of mine in here, in Goodreads, rated it with a five and I remember seeing it before. After seeing the cover closely, it's a painting! I'm sold. So I decided to read it!
I have no regrets buying this book.
The characters are well-written and 3-dimensional. I enjoyed the variety of characters. I'd like to have best friend like America!
I <3 ‘I Can’t Get No Satisfaction’ scene!!! lol
I think Abby and Travis' realtionship is not healthy. They're possesive and co-dependent but I think I was okay (view spoiler). They went through some extreme situations and they made it through. The last fight of Travis, in my opinion, was a bit unnecessary.
I love Travis. But I don't want to meet someone like him. He scares me. (Well, before his "transformation") I think I won't be able to pull off the things Abby did.
This book was a bit long. I think it's better if in the part where they "broke up" should be the end of the first book. But the way Jamie McGuire wrote this, I'm fine with it.
I recommend this to people not in my age and younger.
My fave line(s)/quote(s):
* "To douchebags!" he said, gesturing to Brad. "And to girls that break your heart," he bowed his head to me. His eyes lost focus. "And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her."
* "It's over. Go home." "You're my home."
* "You know why I want you? I didn’t know I was lost until you found me. I didn’t know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed. You’re the one thing I’ve got right. You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon."
* "I know we're fucked up, alright? I'm impulsive, and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don't deserve you...but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I loved anyone or anything ever. When you're around, I don't need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands..."
Accurately showing Abby and Travis' relationship,
truly A Beautiful Disaster...
