An amazing accomplishment, Doubt traces the history of religious non-believers from ancient movements which doubted pagan gods all the way to current-day atheists. With beautifully written prose and a sharp wit, Hecht weaves the story into a narrative that is much longer-- and richer-- than I had ever realized.
