This book was a horrifying yet fascinating look at how disregard for life and justification can lead to unthinkable scenarios. The story takes place in a future world, but is just similar enough to bring the issues in the book close to home. The descriptions of what these kids go through to avoid being unwound, the feelings of people who have received "donations," and the actual first person description of being unwound; all made this book impossible to put down and cause me to think deeply, something that, I think, is what makes a book truly excellent. Warnings: death, violence, disturbing images.
