An account of the exploration of the Yellowstone area in 1870. A quick read, interesting, and even a bit of humor along the way. I read it in conjunction with a visit to Yellowstone National Park, which was great because I could picture the places described in the book. The sense of wonder in Langford's writing is something we can't quite experience because we've all seen photos of the park and know something about what we'll see when we get there. It's fun to read the perspective of someone who was surprised by Old Faithful and the other amazing things he saw along the way.
