This is a quick, delightful read--and would make a great read aloud to older elementary classes. Setting is a small town in Indiana, sometime in the early 20th century. The book focuses on two orphans--a brother and sister--and their dreams of owning their own service station someday as the automobile displaces the horse and buggy. The town's former librarian has died, and 4 new young librarians enter the scene. Between them, they change not only the town's library but the future of the two orphans as well. Well written, funny, and entertaining.
