I had never heard about this book until I read the review for Sullivan's latest book, Maine, which now I can't wait to read.

Commencement tells the story of four best friends who met as housemates at Smith College, a women's college. The story follows the girls through their years at Smith and the five years following graduation. Each girl, Celia, Sally, Bree and April takes turns narrating the story, which showcases each of their points of view. What makes the story so interesting though is that each one of these girls is different yet they find common ground and form an unbreakable bond of friendship.

It made me long for my college years and the wonderful friends I made playing tennis at La Roche. It was also interesting to read about the life of students at an elite all-girls college. For those of you who liked Prep, this is somewhat similar. It is a perfect summer read and Sullivan does a perfect job mixing serious topics with a wonderful story of friendship.
