This is a particularly biased review, mostly because I am an Archives employee (don't worry, I only speak for myself, not the entire National Archives, thank God!), but I wanted to read this book to see how accurate Meltzer got things. I'm happy to report that he did a nice job describing the buildings and the facts around the agency, but where he did well with that aspect, he lacked in the actual story. I felt like it was predictable, and at times boring, and as an adventure novel, it just didn't feel very adventurous to me. So if you're curious as to what the behind the scenes of the National Archives really looks like, this is certainly a good book (though just remember that the most dramatic thing that happens here usually involves an increase in prices at the cafeteria), but if you're looking for some adventure, be prepared to finish the book feeling a bit underwhelmed.
