The guy in this book was larger than life. Its an amazing tribute to the will to survive--shipwreck, Japanese POW camp. But I didn't find it all that well written. The prose was kind of clunky and simplistic. All in all I'm glad I read it becuase I learned a lot about the horrors of Japan during the War, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone but my dad.
