El Borak and Other Desert Adventures
by Robert E. Howard
by Robert E. Howard
Enjoyable Howard stories (I had never read any of them before) but a little overwhelming and a little repetitive, so it took me many months to get through the whole volume. I mean, in almost every story by Howard the same stuff happens... I wish the real world had so many secret tunnels and passages. It's pretty interesting how the El Borak stories are set in Afghanistan and central Asia, and thinking about the history of these lands over the past century and the Americans fighting there today.
The black-and-white artwork in this particular book was fantastic; I looked up the artist Tim Bradstreet and totally wanna buy some of his stuff. I fell a little in love with one of his hot fierce henna-adorned warrior women :)
