Nora Roberts is always at the top of my must-read authors list. Even though I don't read much in the romance genre anymore, I wouldn't miss anything new she writes. This one particularly resonated with me because I identified so much with the female lead's struggles with her self-centered, histrionic mother. Mac is a photographer for the wedding planning company, Vows, that she started with her three best childhood friends. She captures moments of great emotion and promise, but because of the aforementioned mother, she doesn't feel that love last or that it's meant for her. Enter Carter, a tweedy schoolteacher, and pretty much the most awesome guy ever. Mac is seriously considering revising her view that she's meant to spend her live alone. Roberts' writing really sparkles here. The language and dialogue is witty, and sort of reminds me of the banter known as Buffy-speak. Even though Roberts is a legend and any new release by her will be automatically bought by millions, no matter what the quality, she still keeps getting better, honing her craft. That is why it's such a delight to read her books. I am very much looking forward to the rest of the volumes in this series.
