You guys. Really. This book. Someone else on goodreads described it as Ocean's 11 meets The Italian Job set in Mordor 1000 years into Sauron's reign. A hilarious and entirely appropriate description, it turns out.

The system of magic is by far the most interesting and unique thing about the book, but the book itself is really very good. I loved Kelsier and Vin, I loved all the twists and turns the plot took, loved the excerpts at the beginning of each chapter that left you guessing. SO GOOD.

Quotes Merrin Liked

Brandon Sanderson
“Belief isn't simply a thing for fair times and bright days...What is belief - what is faith - if you don't continue in it after failure?...Anyone can believe in someone, or something that always succeeds...But failure...ah, now, that is hard to believe in, certainly and truly. Difficult enough to have value. Sometimes we just have to wait long enough...then we find out why exactly it was that we kept believing...There's always another secret.”
Brandon Sanderson, The Final Empire
