Jeffrey Archer is a writer who was also a member of the House of Parliament. He is convicted of a white collar crime and sent to prison for 4 years. While there he keeps a diary. This is the first of them. It catalogs his first prison and the first 3 weeks of being a convicted felon. His new neighbors are mostly convicted murderers. His descriptions, while probably horrific to live through, seem pretty tame, considering the stories I've heard or read about life behind bars. Since he was a famous person, he was treated with respect and deference- including having his own cell most of the time. Besides the inability to move about freely, and the lousy food, he seems to managed quite well. Who knows what the following diaries reveal.
