4 1/2 stars. Benni Ortiz is frantically trying to get the very first Memory Festival organized and executed but her life is turned upside down when a sniper terrorizes San Celina and causes her husband Gabe to experience a resurgence of his PTSD, a debilitating remnant of his past service in Vietnam. Benni is also working on a book with her grandfather of the heart, Isaac, and she is interviewing various residents of the surrounding areas while he takes his insightful photographs even as his wife, Dove, and her sister try their hand at matchmaking. A mysterious woman who seems to be uncomfortably focused on Benni and Gabe adds to the stress on their marriage as Benni tries to find a way to comfort her stoic spouse and combat his demons while he searches for the increasingly destructive sniper. A poignant look at the havoc wreaked upon countless lives by war with glimpses of the unsung heroes who include both those who fought directly and those responsible for ministering to the wounded and a sobering reminder that some wounds are of the body while others can be less visible because they have damaged the spirit. An excellent and thought-provoking addition to the series.
