Why did I wait so long to pick up this book??? It's amazing.

I had to slog through the part on the Vietnam War because I can only quickly absorb stories about people and relationships -- when it comes to countries and leaders (especially if they are all named Lao, mind you) and nationalities, I cannot hook in. But I think it was important to include that piece in the book. Just took me hella longer than I had planned after breezing through the first half.

I kind of think everyone should read this.

Thanks for the recommendation. I got this as a gift a while back, and I haven't read it yet.

Kate So, did you read it yet? And did you see the movie Gran Torino?
