I don't like Aurora as much as Harris's other protagonists. I'm not sure if it's too much stereotypical mousy librarian or the whole weird name monologue that Aurora goes off on towards the beginning of the book (and for all that, I think "Roe" is a weird and not very nice nickname, whereas Aurora is a nice name and her mother's name Aida isn't as unusual as Aurora makes out in that weird monologue).

So why did I give the book five stars? I liked Aurora a lot more after reading this book than I did when I read a book much later in the series. Also, this is a really good mystery. I've read a bunch of mysteries lately where the solution is pulled out of the hat, and the reader has almost no way to figure it out on their own. This book, however, has carefully woven the clues into the text. You may not pick up on them (I didn't), but when you're finished you'll probably be satisfied that the clues were there and visible and you could have figured it out yourself.
