First off . . . I requested this one from the library because it was a new Nora Roberts book. I barely gave the blurb a glance before loading this on my iPod. I honestly had no idea this book was about fire fighters until I started listening. It's pretty rare that I go into a book not knowing the general direction the book is headed.

I have to say, this was a fun adventure! I've read books that revolved around fire fighters before, but smoke jumpers is a first for me . . . and WOW, what a career choice!

I loved almost everything about this book. The characters were so engaging. Rowan is such a wonderful lead character. Gull is almost too perfect for words. Dobie was one of my very favorite characters.

I had the "whodunnit" figured out as soon as they introduced him, but I kept flipping back and forth wishing I was wrong . . . but having someone else be it would be even more horrible...

The narrator did a wonderful job with this book.
