did not like it
bookshelves: bookclub, unfinished

agreed with most everyone; the writing is a mess and hard to slog thru. So hard I did not finish it. Normally I don't comment if I did not finish the book. Exception for this because I attended a Commonwealth evening featuring Mortensen, and was SO relieved that Mortensen speaks eloquently on the subject and events in this book. The inspiration behind the book and the drive toward a better world raised all kinds of questions about what is left untended, what suffers in the process. Whatever his faults as a writer, businessman, family man or human being (and we all share plenty of those faults) Mortensen is moved to do good work and to try to do it in a good way. He is no Machiavelli, though that is the shadow in the picture of this man's "mission".
