Miles Ryan is a small-town deputy sheriff and single father learning to live again after the death of his beloved wife in a hit and run accident. Sarah Andrews comes to the same small town as a second grade teacher to start over after a painful divorce. When they meet, a sweet, tender love blossoms. As their love grows, they are unaware of the terrible secret that hangs over them, threatening their happiness and new life together.

Reading this story, I found it a bit cliché and predictable; however, it did pull at my heartstrings at times. The first half of it, as their relationship developed was a bit slow moving, but the latter half of the book was a little more brisk paced.

Overall, A BEND IN THE ROAD, by Nicholas Sparks, is a sweet southern love story, but more than that, it’s the story of healing, trust, forgiveness and the redemptive power of truth. A good read for a lazy summer day.
