it was amazing
bookshelves: 2011, fantasy
Read from June 03 to 04, 2011 — I own a copy , read count: 3

At first Lirael seems like simply an excuse to venture into another part of the Old Kingdom and get to know another set of the old blood better, but if you start out rolling your eyes, you'll stop fast, as the Clayr's Glacier is a fascinating place. Lirael is an outsider in a very closely knit community, so much of the first half is spent with her exploring the Glacier itself, but it's when she leaves that things really pick up, with Sameth's story intertwined. One warning, though: the first time I read this, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how Nix would wrap things up in the oh-so-few pages he had left...only to find out that he wouldn't, and had left us with a cliffhanger to be resolved in Abhorsen. The days I waited to get my hands on that book were some of the longest of my life.

Roxanne The bit where she finds the hidden staircase leading to the secret room is one of my favorite parts. That really stuck with me. I loved this whole series.
