** spoiler alert **
Let's call this 3.5 stars. The plot is what brings the rating down here; there's a weird Church of Scientology stand-in, a diversion into cryogenics, and generally the feeling that private detectives Kenzie and Gennaro are out of their element. The fish out of water scenario works acceptably, but it's not as compelling as the situations in the previous two books.
What is compelling is the fact that events from the previous two books are still leaving scars- physically and emotionally- on the two leads. Following them as they try to cope with what's been inflicted on them- that's the fun of this book.
