REVIEW COURTESTY OF ROMANCE JUNKIES (reviewer: pamelalynne):
Graham Wessit, Earl of Netham, is pounced upon by a woman while at his club and embarrassed beyond belief. This very pregnant woman claims he is the father of her unborn twins. That little statement ends with Graham being named as the defendant in a paternity suit. Since Graham is known for his dalliances about town, society believes the accuser's story and their system of justice soon proves to be a joke. They seem set on him being held responsible for the babies, who believe it or not, are not actually his. Before long even more interesting things happen to Graham. His mistress decides that she wants to divorce her husband and marry Graham. Then to top it all off, he meets a woman who he knows he should not become involved with.
Submit Channing-Downes' husband recently passed, leaving her with something important in her possession. She is to safely deliver this item to Graham Wessit, a cousin to her deceased husband. When Submit discovers what she is actually delivering, all kinds of questions arise and suddenly she finds herself becoming more involved than she wants to be. Submit is captivated by Graham and instantly feels a growing attraction for him, but all that will have to be put on the back burner until she can take care of Henry's son, William. William is upset that Submit has inherited so much and he has not. It is then that Graham begins to pursue Submit. Will Submit finally submit to Graham?
I love Judith Ivory's writing style. Each book is better than the last. BLACK SILK is what true historical romances are made of. It has all the key elements: characters that are complex but relatable, passion simply pouring off the pages, and a highly intriguing plot. I love that BLACK SILK has more storyline and is not overloaded in the romance department. It has just the right amount for me. BLACK SILK is definitely a keeper, as are many of Ms. Ivory's novels. I have been a fan for years and I must say that I truly look forward to reading her next novel.
