Read this because it was in the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. And, I was able to read it for free. I enjoyed it much more than I expected to. It was surprisingly well written, very romantic, and just fun. However, it was really racist and sexist, and completely unbelievable.

The bottom line is that I will be willing to read more by Burroughs now, because I enjoyed this well enough and it is only the second novel he has published, so I'm guessing there is more enjoyable stuff down the road.
