The flint heart, designed and created in the Stone Age, turns decent men into atrocious, power hungry leaders. The story begins with the first man to wear the flint heart, Phutt, who makes his followers miserable. The story then jumps to the late 1800s when Charles and his family run into the flint heart. They visit fairyland and learn how to defeat the terrible power of the magical stone. After several misadventures and quirky characters, everyone lives happily ever after.

I didn't enjoy this book that much. Kids who are strong readers and enjoy fantasy may appreciate this book but it's certainly not a book for everyone.
