The Borgia Betrayal is the second book in a series and, in my opinion, is an equal to Poison (the first book). However, as often as it does, the plot thickens. The author spins a tale so vivid and enthralling one can barely put the book down. Francesca, the main character returns just as strong and intelligent as before, if not a bit darker (think emo spiderman 2 just not As EMO)I really did enjoy this book and would reccomend it to anyone who has an interest in historic fiction and is a bit dried out on The Tudor family.

My only issue was the lack of romance, yes there is sex, but the romantic nature is not exactly blossoming. I do feel it was lacking in that area, however too much would show a conflict with Francescas nature. So this minor issue is understandable. My opinion : READ IT. And even though it can be a stand alone book I would def suggest you read Poison as well!
