Read in January, 2001 — I own a copy , read count: 15

My best friend's mom lent me a copy of Sabriel when I was in the 8th grade. This was the first (and only book so far) that I read all the way through, closed the book, then immediately opened it again and started it over.

This is one book I won't spoil in the review...

The world building and the mythology used/created is just fascinating. Without getting too spoiler-y (shush, I'm pretending it's a real word) the basic story is Sabriel's father goes missing and she has to use the lessons he has taught her to search for him. The problem is, she is a necromancer and to find him she may have to go into Death.

It is a phenomenal read and a great Fantasy novel topic that hasn't been used a million times.

Now, I have to go read it again.
