Naamah's Blessing (Moirin Trilogy, #3)
by Jacqueline Carey (Goodreads Author)
by Jacqueline Carey (Goodreads Author)
The ending was better then I expected but still-
The emotional heft of the earlier books never materialized. It;s strange that this series sort of faded away after the Imriel trilogy. When Kushiel's Dart came out i thought it was going to change the face of fantasy and then came the Naamah trilogy. Bye.
SPOILER ALERT
Phedre goes into Drujan to rescue Imriel because Kushiel and Naamah basically tell her she has to or they are done with her. She has to accept and drive everyone around her CRAZY in order to save the WORLD from Drujan's darkness. She's Elua's messenger to evil, "My gods did send me...but not as a tribute" and then spend the next half of the book doing crazy things and ends up with Imriel as her foster son.
"I had Imriel. Imri, who'd spat in my face upon our meeting, Who trusted me beyond reason. Melisande's son, the scion of my deepest enemy, my darkest desire.... Love as thou wilt"
Moirin and Bao defeat some sad ant demon maniac, go home to Alba and light a candle for same fat babies. Oh and they get accepted by the bear goddess.
Yawn.

29.0% | "The end (supposedly) of the D'Angeline cycle. The first two trilogies are so awesome that I still cry everytime I read them. The first two Naamah books- no. Last chance to redeem Moirin and Bao from a recycled Phedre/Joscelin retread and make this something special. I hope it happens. Carey is still a great writer but Namah is just not as powerful a deity as Kushiel." |
