really liked it

Well this once again proves to me don't read others review prior to reading the book. Most of the reviews out there said that it was to in-depth, and if you didn't know the story of the Elder Scrolls you would be lost, also that it was helpful to have read the first book. Knowing this I started with trepidation, I was worried I would be able to understand that the fantasy would be above me and that I wouldn't enjoy this book. I dreaded starting it, and kept putting it on the back burner when other books arrived. This was a mistake. This novel truly is a standalone novel. While it would help a bit knowing some of the back story, it really does a great job of explaining the magic and "otherworldliness" that you don't have to know the back story to be sucked in. I actually am now curious and will probably be picking up the first novel soon to round out the story. At times I felt the book jumped to much between storylines, and it was hard to remember who we were with. Also in the dialogue I did get lost a few times as to who was talking when. But as a lover of fantasy I found this book a great read, and I was truly drawn in and didn't want it to end! I probably would give this more of a 3.5 stars verses the 4 rating, but since half stars aren't available. . .
