Well -- I'm not sure if it is because I knew that Keira Knightly was in the movie and she was in some Jane Austin Movie or another -- but I felt while I was reading a Jane Austin Book as it would have been written had she lived in the 1930s &1940s and had grown up past her need to tie things up into tidy little packages at the end. It is totally different than Black Dog the other book by him -- It is really apparent that he had to put a lot of of research into writing it. It's a little slow in places..and as with Faulkner sometimes you do want to say "gt on with it" - But I know we're supposed to be reading the poetry of the book to -- so I need to be a more patient reader. I like to read books then see the movie. I'm not too harsh when the movie doesn't measure up -- which of course it doesn't. That's all for now
