it was amazing

I read this when I was at Smuggler's Notch in Colorado on a ski trip with my family. I was thirteen or fourteen, I think. Anyway, I finished it in the three days I was there, reading late, late in my bed (sharing the room with my brother!). It was an amazing story. What I liked most: how different it was from the typical fantasy books I'd read at the time. There were a few adult themes, if I remember correctly, but it takes you to a totally different world. If you like offbeat fantasy (and orphan stories) you'd probably like this one.
